How to Clean Scratched CDs with Toothpaste
There’s hundreds of methods and ways to clean scratched or damaged CDs. They include mass cleaning with machines, simply wiping, using special cleaning solutions, etc. However, the most effective, quick, and cheap way is to use the age-old toothpaste method. Yup! Toothpaste! Here’s how to fix and save scratched CDs:
- First, wash the scratched or damaged CD.
- Rub some traditional toothpaste (toothpaste that contains Baking Soda, not the jell kind) onto the CD.
- Spread the toothpaste with your fingers around the whole CD.
- Gently rub the CD surface with the toothpaste for a reasonable amount of time (less than 2 minutes).
- Let the CD sit for a reasonable amount of time (less than 5 minutes).
- Wash the toothpaste off of the CD using non-hot, temperate rinsing water.
- Finally, dry the CD with a smooth cloth or tissue.
- Voila, the CD that won’t play will play once again!

Haha, nice. I wish tooth paste did the same thing to my teeth. =)
