By combining GrandCentral and Gizmo Project together, you can now send/dial and receive calls from your computer for absolutely free. These phone calls can also be sent anomalously from your PC! This is more or less a hack for Gizmo through GrandCentral. Here’s how to send and receive calls free from your computer with Grand Central and Gizmo:

• First, you need a Gizmo Project account. Download Gizmo at the Gizmo Project Download page: LINK
• Then, install Gizmo for your computer (Compatible with Windows, Mac, or Linux) and create a new Gizmo account.

When you create a Gizmo account, an automatic SIP number is assigned to your account. Gizmo Project uses the SIP Phone service to handle its calling procedure. Your SIP account number is the key to receiving and sending free calls. Here is how to get your Gizmo SIP number: (READ ON TO LEARN HOW TO RECEIVE AND CALL OUT FROM YOUR COMPUTER FOR FREE!)

• Either goto your Gizmo Project application: Log in, Click “Edit” > “My Profile” > A My Profile window will pop up displaying multiple entry boxes with one gray non-editable “SIP number” box. Copy the text in this box. i.e. “#####@proxy01.sipphone.com” > You only actually need the digits before “@proxy01.sipphone.com”
• If your SIP number is not displayed in your profile window, then goto your SIP Phone account page at my.sipphone.com > Log in using your Gizmo account name and password > Copy the digits under “My SIPPhone”

Make sure you save or copy down your SIP number. This is the key we will be using later to combine GrandCentral and Gizmo together to receive and send calls for free.

Now, go to GrandCentral (grandcentral.com) and sign up to reserve a phone number. However, Grand Central currently is attained by Google and is in a BETA invitation-only stage. Thus, you may need to go to Invite Share (inviteshare.com) to ask for an invitation to GrandCentral. Usually, other users at Invite Share will quickly send you a Grand Central invitation.

This method allows you to receive phone calls from your computer for free:

• After you set up your GrandCentral account, log in and navigate to the Settings tab. Click the “Add/Edit Number” link.
• Here, select a new Phone setting. In the first drop down menu, select Gizmo as the type of phone.
• Then under the phone number menu, enter your previous Gizmo SIP number (i.e. 747-###-####).
• Type any name you want for your Gizmo phone.
• Finally, check “All Callers” for the Gizmo phone so that all calls coming in to your GrandCentral number will be directly transfered to Gizmo for free.

This method allows you to send calls from your computer for free:

• To send or dial out calls, simply add the phone number of the recipient in your address menu.
• Then, in your address book, click the call button of the number you wish to dial to.
• Select your Gizmo number as the other connection and click it.
• GrandCentral will call Gizmo, thus costing absolutely no money since you will only be picking up from Gizmo.
• After you pick up, GrandCentral will then dial out to the phone number you picked earlier and connect Gizmo and the dial out number. This way, you are indirectly calling the other number from Gizmo by receiving calls from GrandCentral for free at no charge!
